Zalmon Jaffe's lively (personal) journals turn back the clock to the Rebbe's early years of leadership when a farbrengen was attended by a modest crowd of 300, and a personal yechidus could last over two hours. In addition to excerpting some of the 250 personal letters from the Rebbe, Jaffe recounts a astory that brought tears of laughter to the Rebbe's eyes; spilling punch at the Rebbetzin's tea table, and the Rebbe's insightful guidance at critical moments. About the Author
Born 1913 in Manchester (UK), community activist and businessman, Mr. Zalmon Jaffe and his wife, Roselyn, first visited the USA in 1959 and instantly became enamored with the Rebbe. They received over 240 (!) personal letters from the Rebbe between 1952 and 1992 and they were in yechidus about 50 times. Before Sukkos each year, Mr. Jaffe was one of the only individuals to receive a set of arba minim from the Rebbe. Mr. Jaffe passed away on September 27, 2000, followed only 15 days later by Mrs. Jaffe. Today, around the globe, over 25 of their offspring continue their legacy of community activism, leadership and outreach.
