Halacha topics pertaining to checking for insect infestation, beer and the kosher consumer, halachic perspectives on rent regulation, obscuring one's Jewish identity, harmful speech, sensitivity and political correctness and property values.

The Journal of Halacha and Contemporary Society is published twice a year by the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School. More generally, it is the purpose of this Journal to study through the prism of Torah law and values major questions facing us as Jews in the twenty-first century. This encompasses the review of relevant biblical and talmudic passages and the survey of halachic literature, including recent responses. Most importantly, the Journal of Halacha and Contemporary Society does not present itself as the halachic authority on any question. Rather, the aim is to inform the religious Jewish public of positions taken by respected rabbinic leaders over the generations.
