Regarding the importance of studying Pirkei Avos, we find in Bava Kama (30a), "Rava Yehuda says: One who wants to be pious (act like a chassid) should observe the matters of tractate Avos." Although Avos does not include the dry letter of the law, it is filled with behavior that is milsa d'chassidusa - pious behavior - and one who follows its instructions will become a chassid.
In addition to the Gemara's suggestion to learn Pirkei Avos, the custom is to study one chapter per week from Pesach until Shavuos, with some, including Chabad, continuing the study all the way until Rosh Hashanah.
Following the style of the Prayer Points series, in which we strive to infuse the davening with inspirational teachings and anecdotes, here is a collection that we hope will bring the reader a great appreciation and enthusiasm for the study of Pirkei Avos.
