About the Author:
When I was in elementary school, I had a nickname. Moving the break between my first and last name, I became Dr V I Chnalevitz, Psychologist. Currently, I teach Intro to Psychology and Developmental Psychology to 12th graders who are receiving college credits. Some childhood games really do play out in real life.* ?
My experience in coaching began sometime in the 1990s, when I was in camp in Michigan. My roommates bought me a special sign to hang near my bed, announcing: "Complaint Department Is Open." I guess I did a lot of listening to other people's troubles.
In the late 1990s, after graduating from BYA High School and finishing BYA seminary in Israel, I signed up as a mentor with Project YES and had my first experience as an official mentor. The training and real life experience were invaluable.
I haven't ever really stopped mentoring, and I haven't ever stopped learning. My main client is myself, and along the way I am busy collecting friends and acquaintances dealing with similar issues. I've gone through major illness of a spouse, pre- and post-partum depression, raising a child with a genetic condition, and dealing with many issues affecting myself and those I love.
Whether it's anxiety, chronic illness, physical disability, joint replacement, hearing loss, cancer, learning disabilities, or ADHD, whatever challenge I or my loved ones face, I listen, I learn and I share. My path in life is full of surprises, and I'm sure yours is too.
What challenge can I help YOU overcome?
