The Wall Hanging designs in raw silk are applique'd and attached with embroidery. The fringes are made from glass and metal beads. The mounting rod is made from brass pipe with brass finials. The hangings are mounted with two screws secured into the wall under the rod.
Artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem. Born in Kibbutz Shaalavim, he grew up in Jerusalem in an Orthodox home and later in life adopted a more pluralistic approach to Judaism. This background influenced Emanuel's style of Judaic art, which is based upon a fusion of traditional motifs and ancient Jewish manuscripts with modern and Oriental art.
